Moving home can be an incredibly complicated task for the simple reason that there are so many things that you have to do both before you move and after arrival in your new home. This is true whether you move down the road, across town, to the other end of the country, or even to another country.
This is why, at Movers International, we always recommend that you not only make a list of the things that need to be done – and even then it is going to be a long list – but that you create a diary so that you know by when a particular task must be completed. If you know what needs to be done and when it needs to have been done it makes moving so much easier, because you can tick things off as you go and you won’t be in the position where you are rushing about at the last minute trying to catch up on something that should have been done three weeks ago, but you simply forgot.

What all this means is that you need to sit down and create a plan so that you can allow yourself sufficient time in which to do everything. It makes for a lot less worry when you know what you are supposed to be doing on any given day.

One thing that you might perhaps need is storage in Lancashire. There can be many reasons for this when you are moving, such as a break in the chain. Perhaps you have sold your home and need to move out because the new owner is due to take over, but your new home is not ready for one reason or another. Maybe you got a very quick offer on your home when you first listed it for sale and before you have decided on the home that you want to buy, so you need to move into temporary accommodation. The good news in this case is that at Movers International we offer all customers completely free storage in Lancashire at our Preston depot for up to four weeks.

You may also want to buy some new furniture before you actually move. There is no point in having it delivered to your present home only to have to move it again three weeks later, so it makes sense to have your supplier deliver straight to us instead of to you. It will be perfectly safe and secure in one of our big storage containers.

Another issue is, of course, packing. Every customer is different and perfectly entitled to make their own choices, but we always recommend that you let us do your packing. This is because our packers have the necessary experience to pack all your belongings safely and securely so that they won’t move about during transit and risk being damaged. However, if you prefer to do your own packing, we can supply you with everything that you will need in the way of strong boxes and packaging materials.

You may also want to check on your insurance policy. Some policies allow for cover for goods in transit when you move, but others do not. While we have a certain amount of cover, we cannot allow for someone who has an antique vase worth £15,000 when most customers do not. So it makes sense to make certain that you have enough insurance. We take every care with your goods, but unfortunately road accidents do happen, and there are some things which are beyond our control.

However, such things are few and far between. Our aim is always to get your belongings to wherever you are going on time, and in perfect condition.
