Here is something you may not know: around 10% of the British population lives abroad permanently. According to BBC News about 5.5 million British people live in another country, and in the year ending December 2023 around 532,000 people had emigrated to other countries.
Of course, the reasons can be many. Some people move abroad for work reasons. They may have found a far better job with better prospects in another country with a much lower cost of living than in the UK, so why not? Others may move to be with family. For instance, relatives may have moved to Australia or New Zealand, and you wish to join them.

Quite a large number of retirees choose to move abroad too. The most popular destinations by far are Spain and Portugal. This is largely because they are popular holiday destinations and so people have been there many times for that reason. When finally reaching retiring age, it can just seem the perfect idea to go and live in the sun permanently. The cost of living is a lot lower too. France, Italy, Ireland, and Germany are also popular.

Australia and New Zealand are among the “go to” countries, with an estimated 1.2 million expats living in Australia alone. Canada has about 531,000 expats, chiefly in Ottawa and Vancouver. South Africa is also on the wish list, for sunny weather and cheap housing. In addition, the UAE is another trending country, with the city of Dubai being the destination for those with money.

Movers International Can Help

So, if you are joining them and moving abroad, you will need to make arrangements for the removal process. We can help you at Movers International, wherever you may be going.

Obviously, you will need to know what international moving companies cost and the problem with this is that there is really no definitive answer. Costs can vary enormously depending upon several factors. For instance, how far are you going? France is only 22 miles across the Channel while Australia is 9,500 miles if you are flying directly. However, mostly you will move furniture and belongings by sea and land, and that can take some time and involve all of the rules and regulations for moving there.

In short, there is no easy answer to the question “What do international moving companies cost?” What we can tell you is that with our 30 years of experience in moving people around the world, you will find our expertise is as good as it gets, and our rates are truly extremely competitive.
