Moving home is known to be one of the most stressful things that we ever do, and yet, the average person will move every seven years. Whether it is to a bigger or smaller home in the same town or village, or whether you have decided to move to a different country entirely, the stress will be similar.
When you move home, it is usually because you want to and not because you have to, although if you work for a company and it wants you to move somewhere else as part of a promotion and it means you are going to earn more money, then you might consider that a “have to”. Either way, it can be very exciting, because it is something new and you will make new friends and be settling into somewhere different.

But it is also stressful because there are so many things that you have to do. Once you decide upon your move, you will no doubt start making a list of what needs to be done, but the problem is that the list gets longer and longer. You start with, let’s say, all the people who you have to advise of your new address. So, all the people in your phone book need to know, but then you realise that there are dozens of others that you need to advise as well. Just that one list gets longer and longer, and the longer it gets the more time it is going to take to ensure that you have emailed/written/phoned or however it is that you are going to contact them.

Then there is another issue, and that is that you can start to panic because you cannot remember if you have included everyone who should know, and you are worried that you might have left someone out! Trust us, at Movers International we know, because we are helping people move home all day and every day.

You May Need A New School For The Kids

And it is far from just telling everyone who should know your new address. If you have a couple of kids, you are going to have to set up a new school for them, unless you are just moving down the road. That is going to take up a lot of time too. You need a new doctor. So, you have to register with one on the NHS, or privately if that is your preference, and get all your medical details sent over to him or her.

You may want to buy some new furniture. You will probably need to buy new carpets. What are you going to do with the cats on moving day? Did you remember to cancel the papers? How are you going to cook dinner on the day you move in? Can you get a takeaway? Is there one nearby?

Then there is the question of packing all your belongings in order to move. How long is that going to take?

Well, most of this we cannot help you with, unfortunately. But what we can do is to handle all the physical side of your move. We can pack all of your belongings for you so that they will be safe and secure and arrive at your new home in perfect condition.

We can also provide storage in Preston here at our depot – and it is free of charge for four weeks! Very often, if you want to buy new furniture, you need somewhere to keep it until moving day, and in this case, we will take care of it for you. You can have it delivered direct to us.

Our job is to make your move as stress-free as we possibly can, and we will help you in whatever way we can to do just that, including storage in Preston

Some things we cannot help with, but packing, storing, and moving your belongings safely is what we do.
