Spain is one of the top “go to” countries for British retirees. Along with Portugal, it is a regular holiday destination for many families who go there year after year for their annual two-week break. For the most part, the weather in nice and sunny, the locals have a relaxed and laid back attitude, and your pound goes a lot further than it does in Bradford, or Edinburgh, or Cardiff. So, when you have finished that 45 years, or whatever, and claimed your pension, why wouldn’t you sell up and move out there?
At Movers International, we often talk about the fact that many people in the UK choose to move to Spain when they reach retirement age. And why wouldn’t they? 325 days of sun a year, nice warm temperatures, a friendly and welcoming population, and living costs a lot less than here in the UK. There is also a large group of expats who live in Spain as well, so you can be among friends very quickly. Some expats don’t even trouble to learn Spanish, although it is a good idea to do so.
