Removals Guide

It’s not every day that you move house or businesses overseas, so if you are then the chances are you’re finding the whole thing rather daunting and scary to think about. That’s why, here at Movers International, all our staff are highly trained and qualified in order to offer you the most expert help and advice with your international removals.

Here we have answered some of your most frequently asked questions to try and help you organise your move so you feel better prepared. However, if there is anything else you would like to ask then please do not hesitate to give us a call.

How much does a removal cost?

The cost of a removal depends predominantly on the amount of space you take up in one of our vehicles, whether or not you require storage and the kind of packing and wrapping service you require.
How do I find out my volume?

Assessing volume requires a tremendous amount of expertise; hence we offer a free of charge, no obligation home visit by one of our trained and experienced consultants.
What if I don't want a home visit?

We can arrange a quotation through the post, internet or e-mail. However there are many other factors that can affect the cost of your removal and such quotes are fraught with the risk of error, so call our friendly and helpful staff for free advice.
How much is packing?

Packing services vary tremendously, depending on what we are packing and how much packing there is to be complete. The only way to get a true and accurate cost is to arrange a free of charge, no obligation quotation
Can I pack myself?

Yes, absolutely you can and Movers International can help you by offering you all the materials required.
When do I need to contact a removal company?

It is important to obtain a removal quotation at least four weeks prior to your removal. Many clients leave it too late and find themselves without a removal company because they are all full, especially in the summer and school holidays.
What happens when dealing with brokers?

Be aware that they will often not be insured and work will be subbed out from brokers so you could incur additional costs.
Can I order furniture to my new location?

If you want to buy furniture online then you can order it to be delivered to our Preston depot free of charge and we will ship it abroad. This will save you money, space and time. We even collect local eBay items for you as well.
Packing Yourself?

Make sure your boxes are up to the job! They need to be a 2 ply carton ( generally anything from the supermarket wont be up to the job! ) We will supply cartons that are purpose made for moving
Don’t make a box too heavy!

If you struggle to lift then so will everyone else.

Use your own towels, clothes, bedding to pack wrap around delicate items!

Using your own towels, clothes and bedding will save you space and money!
Moving Overseas?

You are paying for space! If it will flat pack and you can put it back together in the same condition, then do so! It will cost less to move.
Volume

If time is short or you have only a few items to move we can work from a list by e-mail or over the phone.
Brokers

Make sure the company you are speaking to will be using THEIR OWN Vehicles, to complete at least some, if not all of the services they are offering. If they answer NO, they are just a broker, selling your move on to the lowest bidder.
Overseas shipping

Make sure you aware of any customs charges that may be levied, ask the questions.
