Who we are

Movers International (Europe) Ltd is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. That means we decide how and why it is used, and we are responsible for looking after it.

We also have offices in Alicante and Malaga in Spain. If you have any questions about this policy or how we use your information, get in touch using the details above.

The information we collect

When you ask for a quote

• Your name, phone number and email address.
• Details of your move: where you are moving from and to, the size of your move, your moving date and any extra services you would like.
• Anything you choose to tell us in the notes, and any lists or photos you upload of the items you are moving.

If you book a move with us

• Your addresses at both ends, access details and contact details for anyone helping with the move.
• An inventory of the items we are moving or storing.
• The information needed for customs paperwork on international moves, which can include copies of identity and residency documents.
• Payment and invoicing details.

When you contact us or use our website

• Emails, messages and notes of phone calls.
• Technical information about how you use our website, such as the pages you visit and the device you use. See the cookies section below.

How we use your information

We will not sell your personal information. We will only send you marketing if you have agreed to it, and you can opt out at any time.

Who we share it with

We only share your information where it is needed to quote for, carry out or support your move. This can include:

• Our own teams in Preston, Alicante and Malaga.
• Partner removals companies and agents at your destination, for example on worldwide moves or our partner route to Italy.
• Shipping lines, freight forwarders and customs authorities, where needed to move your belongings across borders.
• Insurers, if you take out insurance cover through us.
• Service providers who help us run our business, such as our website host, the service that handles our quote form, our email provider and our accountants. They can only use your information to provide their service to us.

We may also share information where the law requires it.

Moving your information outside the UK

Because we move people abroad, some of your information will be shared with organisations outside the UK, such as our Spanish offices and agents in your destination country. Some of our service providers may also store information outside the UK, for example in the United States. Where this happens, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as UK adequacy regulations or approved contract terms, or the transfer is necessary to carry out the move you have asked us to do.

How long we keep it

• Quotes that do not go ahead: up to 12 months, so we can help if you get back in touch about the same move.
• Customer records, invoices and move documents: 6 years after your move, to meet our tax and legal obligations.
• Storage customers: for as long as we store your belongings, then 6 years after.

After that, we securely delete or destroy your information.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies that are needed for it to work. With your permission, we may also use analytics cookies, such as Google Analytics, to understand how people use the site, and advertising cookies, such as the Meta Pixel, to measure and improve our adverts. You can change your choices at any time, and you can block cookies in your browser settings.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

• Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete.
• Ask us to delete your information, where we no longer have a reason to keep it.
• Ask us to restrict or stop using your information in certain circumstances.
• Object to us using your information based on our legitimate interests, including for marketing.
• Ask us to transfer your information to another organisation, where this applies.
• Withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on it.

Keeping your information safe

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information, and only people who need it to do their job can access it.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
