Moving home is known to be one of the most stressful things that we ever do. The average person/family in the UK moves seven times in their lifetime, but it never gets any easier. It is hard enough if you are just moving to another part of your city, but you can still stay in touch with your friends. However, if you are moving abroad, thing will be very different because it is a whole new culture, different laws, driving on the right in many countries, and you may even have to learn a new language.

Then there are all the worries and discussions about what you should take and what you shouldn’t take. Should I take the car, or should I buy a new one on arrival? Of course, the fewer things that you take when moving abroad, the less it will cost you for the move. So the best advice is only to take what you really do need to take. The rest you can give to friends or hold a garage sale and earn some money towards the move.

When you have finally decided what to take there is the question of insurance. Did you know that you, as the shipper, you are responsible for your goods in transit? Did you know that there are different types of insurance? For instance, All Risk insurance covers everything that may happen, except things such as war and pestilence. Named Perils costs less but only covers the items named. Total Loss is even cheaper, but only pays if the ship and cargo are lost. Warehouse To Warehouse is expensive but covers everything from when you drop it off to when you pick it up.

Then there is the question of packing. Some people choose to pack their goods themselves in order to save money, but this is not the best idea. As international movers and packers, at Movers International our team knows how to pack items so that they are secure and cannot slip about in transit. We also know how to pack valuable items such as antique furniture, paintings, expensive glassware, and so on. Certainly, we charge for packing, but if you let us do it you have the best chance of your belongings arriving in the same condition that they left the UK. Let’s face it, you will probably only undertake such a move once in a lifetime, so it is worth doing it right.
