If you are going to move overseas there are an awful lot of things to think about and to do. Here at Movers International we have been moving people overseas for years, and we can help you with your move.
However, there are a lot of things that you need to do which you are going to have to do yourself, and one of these is to take an inventory of what you are going to take with you and what you are no longer going to need - even if you think that something might “come in handy” one day. Trust us, it won’t.

You need to be quite brutal when moving overseas because there are always things that you may have had for years and you will miss them. Bear in mind that you are going to have to pay to move everything and therefore the less that you take, the less you will have to pay for removals. Here is a handy tip: take a look at your wardrobe. If you have items of clothing that you have not worn for two years, you will never wear them again! True! So get rid of them. Take them to the charity shop, give them to a friend, or just bin them. But don’t pay us – or anyone else – to move them just for old time’s sake.

Don’t forget to tell your utility providers that you are moving overseas. They should be disconnected the day after you move. That’s electricity, gas (if applicable), phone, cable tv, internet, and newspaper delivery.

Packing your belongings is critical and is why many people who are moving overseas leave the packing to us. Our expert packers will pack everything so that, barring earthquake or exploding volcanoes, everything will get to your new home in the same condition that it left.

Set aside essential and create an “open first” box. This should contain things that you are going to need immediately you arrive at your new home, such as tea or coffee, washing kit, towels, and anything else that you will need in order to get a good night’s sleep.

If you are not going to be able to move into your new home immediately on arrival, we will store your goods safely here at our Preston depot for up to a month absolutely free of charge. Then we can send them on to you when you are ready.

Make certain that you have an “open first” box, or boxes, with all the things that you will need as soon as you arrive. This might be things such as tea, milk, sugar, cups and saucers, and things that you will need such as soap, towels, and so on, on the night that you move in and the next morning.
